Vote for?

The presidential election is nearing(February 7) and I am glad that I can watch at least two presidential election while I was here. I was cheering for Kerry on the last time and was immensely disappointed that Bush still won. I guess at that time American still felt patriotism and doesn't realize that the world no longer watch them in awe and as a result war with Iraq and possibly, if Bush stay longer in the oval office more war.

Now there's wind of change sweeping across American and it doesn't revolve around Republic or Democratic. There isn't two white men bickering anymore. Both of the most powerful candidate and it can be the most exciting thing ever if one of them won will show America has overcome race and gender issue. One is a black man who has grow up next to our country,Indonesia and have relatives that are Muslim and that man is Obama. He's young and only has a few years experiences in governing. The second candidate is Hillary Clinton.Well it might not be that much a surprise woman getting elected to be a president. But we're talking about American where well, the old boys club still exist.

To me I have preference with Clinton, maybe it's because she's a woman but when I grow up whenever I read overseas section in newspaper, it was the Clinton that I saw. I am fascinated by her. Here's a person in the list of 50's most powerful lawyer in the nation. Educated in Yale Law and walk with Martin Luther King to fight for black rights.

As for Obama, sure I do genuinely like him but I think the media endorsed him so much more and treat him like golden boy while Hillary is treated like dirt. Everyone tends to bash her.

The republican is such a disappointment and they only have this image of the bully of the world and frankly, I don't think Americans nowadays interested in that image anymore.

American no longer the sole hegemony power of the world. The European Union (EU) and China hold that power now. Every single countries in the world are courting to be on their good side. The US isolated in their island refusing globalization and thus alone in the revenge.

Oh yes, I can't wait for the results of election to come out.

LOVE

It has come again, the time to change the music. The one before this was Moon river by Frank Sinatra. Now if anyone of you has watch Breakfast in Tiffany, you'll know the song *Right Masita?* (To Nabilah yg teringin sangat nak jadi Blair Waldorf: Favorite movie Blair is Breakfast in Tiffany,so go watch it!)

When I re-watch Honey and Clover, I realized that it is the favorite song of Rika. And Mayama even has the ring tone for it. Even Morita teased him countless time for that.

The reason I put Moon river was because I watching Sex and City again*phew I really like that series that I can watch it so many times without ever getting bored* So in this one scene where Mr Big was going to California and Carrie come to his apartment and Mr Big told her that whenever his parents going far away they always play Moon river and danced to it.Mr Big invited Carrie to dance with him. I think that scene was terribly romantic and so I felt compelled to put Moon river on my blog...

Now,somehow I suddenly remembered the rendition of Nat King Cole on Parent Trap opening song,"Love". Now, I LOVE Parent Trap and it was when Lindsay Lohan was absolutely adorable and not the junkie rehab she is now. I love the song so much that when I babysit my nephew I often sang it to him and we would pretend we're in a ballroom and dance together to the music. When the song finish I often ask him 'syafiq sayang auntie aza tak?" Yes I pressure him into saying he loves me. Hahahaha.

Suddenly I missed my cute nephew and nieces so much! Well obviously I didn't spend enough time with two of them since I went to college after that. But I do endearingly love them and often buy them clothes.

So please enjoy the song!

Moritaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I was looking for Hikawa Kiyoshi video when I thought the title looks familiar. I clicked at it and listened and I figured it out. This was the song Morita from Honey and Clover sang every year at Sakura Festival. Now if you ever watch the anime you'll appreciate the video.

Off getting out my fan girl gear for Morita while singing "zun! zun! zundoku!"

California Trip

Yes as promised, finally my summary of my California trip.Get 6 random girls thrown out together(of course by choice) on a road, rail, boat, plane trip and what you get? 10 awesome days!

We walk everywhere in San Francisco and took tram everywhere. San Francisco has one of the most beautiful view I have ever seen. There were also quite a lot of hobos(slang:homeless, yes I did learned new vocabulary)in SF but less comparing to downtown Los Angeles.

The transportation is awesome. The schedule is easy to read and there's even board to sign when the next tram will be arriving.Every day there's always something really interesting that highlight our day. The first day our surprised was this "shark" that after that become our little private jokes.

We played a game at there that whoever make lame jokes or say bad things would be rewarded with bad points. The rule can be change anytime by Zaty,Nabilah and me*Yes, we were the little dictators in the group* while Fiqa was our victim of opression. The "reward" of getting enough bad points is getting thrown to the "shark".The picture next shown Shaf was the one rewarded being bad point.

Okay moving on, Dayana was interviewed by NBC when we shopped at Chinatown. It's so bizarre. But heck, it's one in a lifetime thing and the cameraman did take shots of us shopping in the place. Good thing we went into the cheap palace to buy souvenirs.Chinatown was full with sight, smells and I don't know what else.Everything feels like walking around Chinese shops at Malaysia. We even got to eat our favorite Penang dishes at there! *Yes we girls consume humongous amount of food.I think we got fat from the trip*

The next day we took a tour at Alcatraz. The view of SF from Alcatraz is beautiful. We went to eat the most delicious ice cream at Ghiradelli's square.

From the top,us at Alcatraz, next at Ghiradelli, below the view of SF from Alcatraz, and lastly from the highest point of SF where you can see clearly of Alcatraz.

After all the fun and eating fresh succulent fresh seafood we moved on to:
Yes the famous lala land! Hollywood I thought should be more glamorous.Maybe it is just not my cup of tea. I went to the famous Rodeo Drive, did my fair share of oooh and aaah in front of Versace,Jimmy Choo, Bvlgari, and Dior. Heck the street light is Baccarat chandelier. It screams money and extravagance. Of course there is absolutely nothing that we can afford on that street. You can go into the shops only by appointments or if you act really rich which we all don't think we can possibly pull it off.

But we also did the usual thingy of taking the Movie Star Homes and Hollywood Tour. The only thing I don't like about winter is that it gets dark really quick. Thus, half of the tour we got a hard time seeing all those fabulous millions spread home. Oh well at least I get a glimpse.Of course we passed by the Playboy mansion. Hahaha my trip wouldn't be completed if I don't go there. Unfortunately,no nude or topless Kendra running. Dang!

I think that however, in all Los Angeles Santa Monica is the most beautiful place. It has the most breath taking sunset I ever saw. All those fancy word that describes sunset really come true. The iridescent color of the sand makes me stared at the scenery speechless.

The next day we went to Universal Studio. It was so small comparing to Florida's. Oh well but we get to see Desperate Housewives set! I took a picture with my niece and nephews favorite character Dora. I think that they would be green with envy. Muahahah*evil laugh*. We even met 2 Malaysian family having their vacation.

And off we go to our next destination, Laguna Beach-San Diego.San Diego is very laid back and full with Mexicans. It is after all very near to border. We even trick the guys to make them think we were stuck in the border and can't get back in the States. We went to Las Vegas the next day, I don't like LV....very very personal reason that I won't divulge.

Final destination was Grand Canyon. It was less cold than what we expected but it is still freaking cold! When the wind blew we all went screaming "aaaaaaaaa!!!!". Yes so dear people please do go during summer and not winter unlike us. We can't hold our pose for that long because of the coldness.Luckily I got my hot coffee that become lukewarm in an instant.I even got sore throat infected from Nabilah!*I am not blaming you nabilah, just saying that:p*

Grand Canyon was majestic and that's all I can say.

So that concludes my winter vacation. It was fun and I wish I can go with the girls somewhere again.

Sweeney Todd

Well last night in conjunction with Aminah's birthday we girls plan ahead of it to watch Sweeney Todd. Honestly, I am not that big fan of musical but I am a big fan of Johnny Depp's movie with the exception the trilogy of Pirates of the Carribean.

Well you know what I am so glad I watched that movie. It almost like a reminiscence of Kill Bill with all the blood gushing out. But omigod how I love all the songs especially the rendition of Johanna. To me it was the best.

The movie was fantastic with details on the costume, the cinematography and of course the actors are wonderful too! Depp and Carter portray the characters with such intensity it swirls you into their world. Depp when he looks into camera has raw sexuality, coldness and sometimes you can see his suffering before he retires back into the gloominess. Carter also did her best job with her puppy eyes and when there's happy emotions, there's color and it contrast with the whole mood of the film.

One of my other favorite song is "Not While I'm Around". It's a song between Tobias and Mrs. Lovett. Ahhh I like this movie so much.

Okay enough about this. The other movie I am recommending is Edward Scissorhands. It has the same sentiments and I think it is also my favorite because I even bought the dvd.

On a side note, while walking out of the cinema I passed this poster.

Yippee! Another Elizabethan movie! I like Elizabeth I so much that I got the dvd for the first Elizabeth that Cate Blanchett act and now I am thinking of getting the second part as well. FYI Boleyn is the mother of Elizabeth. When I was in Phoenix two days ago I just saw the novel and I was tempted to buy it but settle for something easier because I am boarding a flight. Now that it is going to become a movie the book will be cheaper and hence I will get it at a lesser price.

Uuuu I can't wait for it to be out. School is open next week on Wednesday....My final semester of college...................... Should I be sad or happy? It's a mixed feelings I suppose.

I like stupid romance story

Yes just like the title, I do like stupid romance story that can only be found in books or manga.

Why? I don't know. Just like Aminah said I am cold on the exterior but actually I am softie for good romantic stories hence the reason why I always go to the movie watching cliche romantic stories such as Jane Austen's series, and all those chic flick movies.

However, I don't think all these stories could actually happen on real life and so watching and reading about it is kind of a treat for me. Just like candies.

Well anyway I am obsessed with my cutting my hair to resemble this picture but each time I always think it is a hassle to maintain my hairstyle like that. You need frequent cut and that I don't have time for it.It's from my favorite drama"Love Storm" .Yeap even the title is cheesy.

2008

Everyone writing theirs new year resolution. Unfortunately I don't have a list.Stop doing that 2 years ago...I also no longer keep a list of my accomplishments.

I just got back from California a day ago.It was awesome and I really had fun with the girls.Once I got pictures from them I'll post about it.

Oh well to everyone, Happy New Year 2008. May we all become wiser and accomplish whatever we want for this year.

p/s: The girls want to do a boot camp after all the binge eating during our trip.I think my cheek has become slightly chubbier.
