Up in the Air

Did you watch that movie?

I haven't actually. It started off with nudity and I was watching it at my parents living room so it had to be shut down in an instant!

But there's just something about it that resonates with me at least from what I watch in the trailer.

This job that I have coming into 6 months now which most of it I spent traveling. I've spend only 2 months in the office I think.

I've always like traveling ever since I went to US. I love the exhilaration of being in an airport, watching plane, watching the sky and don't mind at all about the transit as long as I have more than 1 hour between it.

I don't mind at all being by myself. I love packing light, putting everything that I have into one bag.

The same goes with my best friend. Heck she's even more on the road than I am.

She keeps me company on the odd hours and we even had one of THOSE conversation, " Is there something wrong with us?"

I guess it's because I am tied to nothing except to my parents and I am just restless if I'm home.

My best friend told me it's because we're in the crossroad of 20's for which is it money or relationship and since we both had none of the latter and we are content with what we have.

Sometimes we do think about it right before we go to bed but then works comes again and other things takes priority we forgot about it.

For example, we had this conversation and I was for sure telling her that I will confess to this guy but then I completely forgot what I was supposed to do until it came up in our most recent conversation. She couldn't believe that I forgotten about it( -__-)

All I am saying since we're in this condition it doesn't hurt that we enjoy it but it has now become our comfort zone.

I particularly don't know how to get out of this rabbit hole.

I must have a bloody lot of time

Am not picking up the British accent. Just want to use bloody for once. Hihi.

I like American accent. They sound nice, sweeter or maybe that just because used to live in Nashville.

I have one bone to pick against these Brits. They don't know how to have good breakfast.

Alright, maybe I was spoiled but back in the States it was pancakes with maple syrup, waffle, fresh fruits, cheesy hashbrown, eggs, omelet and french toast. And don't start on me on the different variation of pancakes! The melting chocolate or my favorite strawberry crepe..Yummy.

Here it's like baked beans, sunny egg, baked tomatoes, baked potatoes. They really love everything that is baked.

And they don't have lunch hour like the US do. I LOVE calling Chinese delivery to have their lunch menu. Here all the take-away or delivery starts at 5pm. Do you know people need to eat at LUNCH?

Right but am not here to bitch about food.

Moving on, I said I was going to have adventure right? Went to Liverpool last week. Tag along with a bunch of French student to have cheaper group tickets.

I know right? I always get into very funny things. Problem is they really can't speak English and I really don't know French except oui, bonjour and Champ de Elysees. And the funny thing is back when I was planning all my road trip previously I was so meticulous even coming up with excel spread sheet for the itinerary. Now I just google what is the street name, read wiki and just punch in the postcode.

The next day I was supposed to go to Manchester Food Festival but evil shopping lure me away at Old Trafford. I got myself a Longchamp bag. A bit extravagant since I wasn't planning but what the heck, it is the month of my birthday and I am going to splurge on myself. *pat to myself*

p/s: If you're looking for picture of me with any football stadium, you can forget it. I decide to forgo about it and do UK tour the way I like it which means museum, random stuff, walking, eating and stopping by whatever cafe that smells the best and getting seat by the window

Not meeting Mr Darcy

I'm a romantic you know.

While my friends went for the latest action blockbuster, I will scurry away even if by myself to the latest chick flick( which is why I was sick missing Weda and Seri when they first graduated)

I saw Pride & Prejudice by myself while other watched King Kong and always think why can't I meet this Mr Darcy?

My current work bring me to extended time away from Malaysia alone by myself.I have to find things to do so I won't go crazy. Binging in hotel watching tv doesn't sound good or look good.

Currently, I'm in UK and will be here for a month at least and it was crazy but I just HAD to go to Chatsworth House. I mean heck if I am going to spend myself in the country of Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice I have to go this place. Some people go stadium tour and some go the path of regency era.

It was crazy driving by myself down the country road, with the mist and rain and I can tell you it is exactly what I imagine England would be.

Of course I did not meet Mr Darcy. But it was fun reliving those scenes. It'll be silly if I told you which scenes but remember those figure in the room where she catches a glimpse of Mr Darcy, those almost kissing scene
at the fountain after Sunday summon? No? Oh well, I did.

On Sunday, I just figure out I'll stick to Chester itself and found myself following a group of Japanese tourist with their tour guide.

So yeah, in UK following a tour guide who speaks Japanese. Go figure. I don't know how to say this but if you spent enough time listening to others in other language you picked up the language. I did. I get enough gist of what they are saying.

It was reassuring. They remind me of old work place which I miss. I was lonely you can tell at this point.

I don't really know what I am doing. I do know that I have to do the best but sometimes it takes a toll on myself. On some days, I can really tell how unhappy I am. On some day, I get through and not think too much of it.

I do know that if you're unhappy you should not settle. But thinking of great people that I work with (my suppliers) and the look that they have, we have when we get things done is so precious that I feel that I shouldn't quit. That I would let them down.

I am not sure what I'll be doing this weekend, but it sure will be some adventure.

never really good at

I don't think I'm good at saying goodbye or changes...

Like seriously..I am missing my old co-workers and my old job so much. I miss my desk, my telephone, my suppliers and everything about it.

If it wasn't for the stupid boss and the stupid rules they practically forced people to follow I wouldn't leave it.

I missed having my favorite colleague just a desk away gossiping about things and do fun stuff with my SAP system.

Even worse, the guy I am replacing in my new job is leaving today and he was so nice and I am so going to be miserable on Monday without him.

It's like a HUGE challenge to re-navigate yourself again in a company. Where you fit at? Can you settle problem?

I got this very high expectation on me and they're all thinking that I can solve the problem or am I the only one feeling this way?

But I know I can't turn back because that is already my comfort zone. I need to get better and just hoping I believe in myself enough that I can make it work.

Oh gosh, I hope I make it through next week.

showing up for life

I've never been a big fan of non fiction books or the self help book.

To me, when I read, I read to escape.

Until I pick up a copy of Bill Gates, Sr "Showing Up for Life". That book touch me on so many level compare to the New Earth that supposed to shook people up to core.

It talk about the very simple point in life and makes me want to continue showing up for life.

I mean it's not a coincidence that I am involved in many of the various projects at works. It's because I care enough to show up and do the work involved.

I believe in certain values and things and as I go out of the bubble it's getting harder to stick with it. But I like to believe it's worth it to stick with it.

new year

okay I know it's been like super long time.

I haven't been doing any resolution for quite a long time

but i feel that this year I need to set a goal.

I'm saving money so I can go on a trip. I need it to keep my sanity and to say I still I have some adventure spirit. It will be a one person road trip and I'm looking forward to it.

Not exactly backpacking though( I cannot not have comfy flight or hotel)

So Beijing here I come in October!
